...and many other industries where it is necessary to remove metallic magnetic impurities from liquids or similar substances close to the liquid state that are transported through filter assemblies
Magsy offers several degrees of magnetic induction – magnetic force – for magnetic rods for textile filters. Depending on the type of material that is to flow through the magnetic rods, it is necessary to select the appropriate magnetic force, which our experts will recommend in consultation with you, taking into account your production environment and technological capabilities.
For some separation applications, it is necessary to choose a deeper magnetic circuit so that metal impurities are partially attracted from a greater distance and then held firmly (this usually applies to magnetic separation, capturing larger ferromagnetic impurities). For some applications, on the other hand, it is necessary to reduce the depth of the magnetic circuit to the smallest possible extent so that the "clamping" force is as great as possible and even the finest ferromagnetic impurities (characteristic of sticky mud) are reliably retained after capture. All this is combined with a very thin wall separating the liquid from the magnets (usually 0.5 to 0.7 mm thick, depending on the selected magnetic force and the requirements for the quality of magnetic separation).
In any case, it is always necessary to ensure the closest possible contact between the metal impurities and the magnetic rod. In textile filters, this is usually difficult to achieve, and contact with the magnetic rods is replaced by a longer period of time during which the liquid remains in the cartridge filter, which results, among other things, in longer processing times. That is why our company also offers enhanced magnetic separation by installing two magnetic rods in a specially modified magnetic rod holder. This eliminates the need to extend the time in the filter unit and increases the probability of capturing ferromagnetic impurities by quantitatively enhancing the magnetic rods in the holder. For your interest, you can download a graph showing how magnetic induction and breakaway force decrease depending on the distance from the magnetic bar – this confirms the fact that more installed bars increase the probability of capturing ferromagnetic impurities.
Magnetic rods are installed in specially developed holders designed for most sizes of fabric filters, which can accommodate one or two magnetic rods. The holder fits comfortably and ergonomically into the groove in the candle filter, and even during installation, the maximum tightness of the entire system is guaranteed. The number of rods that need to be installed depends on the production technology and the customer's requirements for the resulting magnetic separation – see the paragraph above.
Magnet for fabric filters with one rod (MTF – 1) – consists of one magnetic rod + stainless steel carrier for one rod
Magnet for textile filters with two rods (MTF – 2) – consists of two magnetic rods + stainless steel carrier for two rods
The upper part is designed with a recess to perfectly secure the magnetic rod when installed in the auxiliary holder.
A specially designed open magnetic circuit with a shorter or longer arc between the pole attachments guarantees maximum magnetic pull force for your needs.
The standard version is made of stainless steel 1.4301 / AISI 304. On request, for use in environments with aggressive pH, we can supply a version made of material 1.4404 / AISI 316. All materials are of EU standard quality with certification.
The temperature resistance of magnetic rods is up to 80˚C as standard. On request, we can prepare magnetic rods for use at higher temperatures up to 200˚C (for higher temperatures, please expect a reduction in our standard magnetic values of around 10-20% depending on the selected heat resistance).
The surface of the holder is treated with ceramic beads, resulting in a uniform matte finish. The overall solution is robust, sturdy, and can withstand even rough handling.
The upper part of the magnetic rod holder features a telescopic piston, which ensures that the magnetic rod is securely fixed in the holder and can also be easily removed for cleaning.
A very important element of the magnetic rod holder is a perforated, lightweight stainless steel partition, which serves primarily for safety reasons to ensure complete separation of the magnetic rods during cleaning (applies to the version with two rods installed).
Magnetic rods are very strong and must NEVER be connected (please exercise extreme caution when handling them – if they become connected, they are very difficult to separate and there is a risk of pinching your fingers).
After removing the magnetic rod from the holder (if you have chosen to use two magnetic rods in your holder, remove them one at a time), simply wipe the rod in the direction of its axis. Since the magnetic circuit on both sides of the magnetic rod ends sufficiently before its end, metal impurities will fall off very easily. However, it is very important to perform this process while wearing protective work equipment to avoid injuring your hands with sharp metal impurities that may also be caught on the rods.
